Chemical name: Industrial sodium metabisulfite Physical and chemical properties: Industrial sodium metabisulfite is white or slightly yellow crystalline powder; it has the odor of SO2 and is soluble in water (54g/100ml water at 20°C; 81.7g/100ml water at 100°C). The aqueous solution is acidic. Soluble in glycerin, slightly soluble in ethanol. The relative density (water = 1) is 1.48. It is easy to decompose when exposed to moisture and is easily oxidized into sodium sulfate when exposed to the air. Contact with strong acid releases sulfur dioxide and generates corresponding salts. It is decomposed when heated to 150°C and part of SO2 is liberated. Uses: Industrial sodium metabisulfite is used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries for the production of sodium hydroxide, sulfamethazine, caprolactam, etc., as well as the purification of chloroform, phenylpropanesulfone and benzaldehyde. The photographic industry is used as a fixative ingredient. The perfume industry is used to produce vanillin. Used as preservative in brewing industry, rubber coagulant and dechlorination agent after bleaching cotton cloth. Organic intermediates, dyes, and leather making are used as reducing agents, electroplating industry, oil field wastewater treatment, and mining agents. Storage and transportation: Industrial sodium metabisulfite should be stored in a cool, ventilated, and dry warehouse. It should not be mixed with oxidizing substances and flammable materials; it should be covered during transportation, avoid direct sunlight, and prevent rain and moisture. Handle with care to prevent damage to the package and moisture. Packaging: Industrial sodium metabisulfite is packaged in plastic woven bags lined with polyethylene plastic bags or composite plastic woven bags. The net weight of each bag is 25 kg±0.2kg, 50 kg±0.3kg. Product quality: Industrial sodium metabisulfite products comply with "Industrial Sodium Metabisulfite" HG/T 2826 chemical industry standard.
